Ste McGregor aka Peeky Free is a Brighton based artist hailing from the North East of England. Exercising a broad pallette of creativity, Ste brings together his careers as an animator, designer and musician to a fine art practice. Producing paintings, sculptures and prints which draw heavily on pop imagery and icons, abstracting their forms to his own purpose. Ideas infused with modernist cartoon relics, a sense of mass-consumption and hip hop sensibilites are lashed with colour and a very dark humour to embrace and engage anyone who wants a look.
Returning to a fine art practice after a 25 year hiatus, his past has seen him create animation work for Kanye West, Rhianna, Noel Gallagher and Oasis alongside a music career signed to Brightons Skint Records, recording 2 albums as Kidda. All experiences which informed his present work, moving into a space where his ideas can thrive outside of charts and creative briefs.
